About Us

Welcome to our Springhill Website.

I am the current principal of Springhill Primary School but more importantly I am a past pupil of Springhill Primary School.

Springhill Primary School helped to shape my future and it is therefore my aim and the aim of our school community to ensure that we positively impact the future of every pupil who attends Springhill.

In Springhill we endeavour to support and partner those at home who care for our pupils. Parents and carers are as much a part of our school community as pupils and staff.

We are a welcoming and nurturing school where each pupil is seen as an individual and our differences are celebrated. We SUPPORT our PUPILS to SUCCEED in reaching their potential and we encourage them to develop resilience and independence that will help them to be life-long learners.

We have a staff who enjoy their work and are sincere in their care for the pupils and each other.

As a School of Sanctuary, we strive to ensure that every child knows that they are an important part of our school family and that we all deserve equal respect.

This website will only give you a snapshot of life at Springhill, but we hope that it gives you a taste of the friendly, nurturing and child-centred school we are. We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have.

School Council

The School Council were elected October by each of their classes to be their representatives. They wrote individual manifestos of what they would bring to the School Council and how they would best represent their peers.

The School Council are able to listen to the voices of all pupils and help make decisions about what happens at Springhill.

Over the past few years, the School Council has:

  • Represented the pupils of the school during a range of events
  • Spoken to visiting adults about the school
  • Organised fund-raising events and raised money for charities
  • Organised and judged a variety of competitions

Eco-School

We as a school are delighted to have elected our 2022/23 Eco-Warrior team. The team consists of 2 dedicated pupils from P4, P5, P6 and P7. Our aim as a school is to achieve the Eco-Schools Green Flag and our Eco-Warriors will work hard in guiding us towards securing this achievement.

Schools of Sanctuary Award

Everyone in school has been working hard to make our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone. We have been working towards an award and we have been completing lots of different activities to learn about how we can be a school of sanctuary.

We have had ‘Italy’ month where each class has learnt the Italian numbers to 10, completed some Italian themed art and we also had an Italian themed lunch during dinners. The P7s also made pizza in their cookery club!

Some of the classes have also learnt about refugees through lessons including exploring this through Paddington bear!

The value we focused on in May was empathy and it was so great to see so many pupils getting star of the week for this value.

We will keep you updated on our progress with the award soon.
